Onkyo debuts three new 7-Channel A/V Network Receivers from acclaimed RZ Series

May 9, 2017

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ. May 9, 2017 – Onkyo, the leader in smart, sophisticated, and immersive entertainment solutions, has added three 7.2-channel AVRs to its premium RZ Series lineup: the THX® Certified Select™ TX-RZ820 Network AV Receiver, THX Certified Select TX-RZ720 Network AV Receiver, and TX-RZ620 Network AV Receiver.

With 130 W/Ch, 110 W/Ch, and 100 W/Ch respectively (8 Ohms, 2 channels driven, 20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, FTC), each receiver conveys the emotional feedback delivered in music, film scores and game soundtracks. Following exhaustive bench-tests examining every aspect of audio design, the two higher end models surpass THX Certified Select requirements for low-distortion performance at Theater Reference Volume.

Dynamic Audio Amplification harnesses high current through low impedance to accurately control large speaker drivers, responding instantaneously to rapid changes in massed, constantly moving audio waves. Blisteringly fast dynamics, outstanding transient response, and wide-spectrum 5 Hz–100 kHz reproduction combine to express the energy in sound.

Fed pristine analog signals by a 384 kHz/32-bit AK4458 D/A converter enhanced by VLSC™ filtering technology which removes subtle digital noise, the Dynamic Audio Amplification elicits rich, musical sound effortlessly.

All receivers can decode Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X™ object-based audio and come with dedicated up-mixing solutions for legacy soundtracks, while AccuReflex assures precise phase-alignment of low- and high-directional sounds at the listening position when used with Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers.

For film lovers wanting immersive video as well as sound on compatible 4KTVs, six HDMI® inputs support Dolby Vision™, HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), BT.2020, and 4K/60p/4:4:4/24-bit video pass-through with HDCP 2.2. All feature a front HDMI input*1 for temporary device connection. The TX-RZ620 gains an HDMI Sub Output*2 to connect a second TV or projector, while TX-RZ720 and TX-RZ820 feature a Zone 2 HDMI Output.

The TX-RZ620, TX-RZ720, and TX-RZ820 feature 5 GHz/2.4 GHz Wi-Fi® to support interference-free music streaming as well as wireless multi-room audio distribution.

Users can select songs from Pandora®*3, TIDAL*3, Spotify®*3, TuneIn*3, and Deezer*3 services within the Onkyo Controller*4 app for iPad®, iPhone®, iPod touch®, and Android™ devices.

These network streaming services can be shared from the receiver to optional NCP-302 speakers over FireConnect™*5 powered by Blackfire, while analog signals input via external audio terminals*6 can also be wirelessly distributed, including vinyl albums from the phono input.

Convenient streaming via AirPlay® or from supported music apps via Chromecast built-in*7, as well as the DTS Play-Fi®*7 app, make wireless listening easy, while Bluetooth® technology is included for wireless transmission of almost any audio from a range of mobiles and PCs.

The Onkyo Controller remote app also provides an easy-to-use interface for music libraries on media servers. Hi-Res Audio in Direct DSD 11.2 MHz*8, DSD 5.6 MHz*9, Dolby® TrueHD*10, as well as FLAC, WAV, AIFF, and ALAC to 192 kHz/24-bit resolution, is supported.

Wired audio distribution is another standout. Both TX-RZ620 and TX-RZ720 include Powered Zone 2*11 speaker outputs and pre-/line output serviced by a DAC for network, S/PDIF, and analog sources, while the TX-RZ820 has Powered Zone 2 outputs, Powered Zone 3 outputs*12, and Zone 2/Zone 3 pre-/line outputs. All incorporate independent balance, tone, and volume controls for each zone.

As well as an increase in power over sibling models, and upgrades to select audio components, the TX-RZ820 boasts VLSC™ on all seven channels (other models Front L/R channels); an aluminum front panel, door, and volume control; 7.2-channel pre-outs for outboard amp connection; and Whole House Mode for easy simultaneous multi-zone audio playback. Both TX-RZ720 and TX-RZ820 feature extruded aluminum heat sink with fan for cool running.

Focused on easy home integration, all include a 12 V trigger output, IP control and setup over LAN, RS-232 terminal, IR input, and optional rack-mount kit. This allows the receivers to fit into an existing home automation system or home theater setup easily.

Geared for users who desire compelling, accurate sound from components that are easy to use and built to last, the TX-RZ820, TX-RZ720, and TX-RZ620 lead their class in value and performance. Onkyo’s R&D investment has made these products seamless and easy to use on a daily basis, while giving peak performance in object-audio environments and stereo listening.

The TX-RZ820 (MSRP $1,399 USD & $1599.99 CAD), TX-RZ720 (MSRP $1,099 USD & 1199.99 CAD), and TX-RZ620 (MSRP $899 USD & $999.99 CAD) are available this June. For more information, visit www.onkyousa.com.
